The Christmas season has officially started, which means winter is hovering, ready to surprise us at any minute with Lorelai Gilmore's favorite event: the season's first snowfall. With this magical changing of seasons, however, comes the awkward fashion phenomenon we call winter clothing. Living in the midwest all my life, I've become accustomed to the age-old question of "Do I want to look cute, or do I want to bum it out in my sweats and stay cozy?" But fear not, fashion lovers, I come bearing solutions! This series will be full of some of my top picks for how to stay warm without compromising your sense of style. Today's topic: sweaters with sass!
Sweaters are the classic go-to for cold-weather clothes. Whether you choose a warm wool, a cozy cashmere, or a silky synthetic, they're the easiest way to bundle up without feeling too bulky. The most common problem I have with sweaters, though, is that I tend to find them boring; if it's a basic cardigan or pullover with nothing to catch my attention, I'm usually not drawn to it the way I would be to one with a fun detail.
Cold-shoulder and lace-up styles have been all the rage this year, and carry surprisingly well into winter fashions as well. These cutouts give you just enough interest without letting all the heat escape from your body and causing hypothermia. (Am I exaggerating?) I find that it's also a great way to stay casual but still turn heads with your sense of style. You could even choose a lower cut for a sexier look. (Sweaters in the club could totally be a thing, right?) Whatever you're going for, there's a sweater option that will work for you.
